It's time to "REDESIGN" How we work.

It's time to "Redesign" how we work.

Introduction

Redesigning how we work can involve a range of changes to the way we approach our jobs and careers. It's referring to non-traditional work arrangements that deviate from the traditional nine-to-five office work schedule. They include various types of flexible work arrangements that allow employees to work outside of the traditional work environment or schedule along with an internet facility.

And also, according to the World Economic Forum, people all over the world prioritized their health and well-being over work before the pandemic.

Here are some key areas to consider when thinking about redesigning how we work:

Remote work

The COVID-19 pandemic has made remote work more popular than ever before, but many companies are planning to keep at least some portion of their workforce remote even after the pandemic ends. This can offer greater flexibility, work-life balance, and reduced overhead costs for employers.

It typically involves using technology to communicate with colleagues and complete tasks. Remote work can take various forms such as telecommuting, freelancing, or working for a distributing team.

Remote work has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially with the advancement of technology that allows for more efficient communication and collaboration.

How remote work affects Employee Wellness

Remote work can have both positive and negative effects on employee wellness.

Positive effects
  1. Reduced stress from commuting
  2. More flexibility and control over the work schedule
  3. Increased autonomy
  4. Improved work-life balance
  5. Decreased physical activity.
Negative effects
  1.  Poor internet connectivity and technical issues disrupt productivity.
  2.  Distraction from household chores, family members, pets, or roommates.
  3.  Social isolation and loneliness which can negatively impact mental health and well-being.
  4. Blurred boundaries between work and personal life.
  5. In some cases, employees may also face challenges in accessing necessary resources and technology while working remotely.
  6. Burnout
However remote work also presents challenges such as self-discipline and effective communication skills.

Flexibility

Even for those who work in traditional office environments, there is often room for more flexibility in terms of when and where work is done. Flexible schedules and remote work policies can allow employees to better balance their work and personal lives.

Workload Management

Many people struggle with balancing their work workload and feeling like they are constantly overwhelmed. Redesigning how we work could involve rethinking how we prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage time.

Collaboration

Communication and collaboration are key components of many jobs, but traditional office environments may not always foster the best collaboration. Redesigning how we work could involve using more collaborative tools, rethinking office layouts, and fostering a culture of open communication.

Skill development

In an ever-changing job market, it is important to continually develop new skills and stay up to date on industry trends. Redesigning how we work could involve providing more opportunities for skill training and development, as well as encouraging employees to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

  14. Nice article and you deeply explain importance of the remote controlling,
Remote workers have the advantage of not coming into contact with other people (which is especially important in the light of Covid-19) and catching unwanted germs from coughs and colds. Mental health can also improve with remote working, as there is less stress, and working in your own environment can be relaxing. great work,

  15. Many of us figured that by now, years into the pandemic, we'd have decided on new hybrid work structures, practices, and processes. But we haven't done so. Instead, most businesses are stuck in a transitory phase with little resolution. Why are we taking so long to figure this out? Because, as Tharanga explains, the new world of hybrid work isn't only about deciding whether everyone should go back to work full-time. It's also putting long-held notions about how work should be done and what it even is to the test. Well done Tharanga.
